This movie will make you cry. Both characters (Joel & Clementine) are relatable in their own ways, & the actors deliver amazing, heartfelt performances. The premise is interesting enough & delivers an important message that grief is essential for growth.
The movie is shot & tells the story in a unique way. The visuals for going in & out of Joel's mind is disorienting but not enough to take away from it. It arguably adds a layer of psychological thriller element to it, as Joel slowly cascades into the pain of his memories.
My only complaint is the irresponsible memory-eraser-people sub plots. It kind of detracted from the seriousness of Dr. Mierzwiak's operation. I don't necessarily think it was essential to advance the plot, & there were other avenues the film could've taken for comedic relief. However, this is probably just my own personal gripe.
